Get to Know Me
Dr. Rima H. Himelstein is a pediatric adolescent medicine physician. She’s been a frequent invited speaker, researcher, and author of peer-reviewed journal articles, newspaper columns and blogs for the Philadelphia Inquirer. She’s also Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics of the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. Why I Treat Children
Being a pediatrician allows me to combine my interests in helping children with science and problem solving. I became a pediatrician because I love kids. I chose to focus specifically on adolescent medicine for several reasons. One is that I find teenagers to be funny, smart, honest and challenging. In addition, I have a great deal of respect for the magnitude of psychological, social and physical changes that they go through during adolescence and puberty. Another reason I have chosen to focus my career on teenagers is that adolescent medicine involves gynecology, family planning, psychiatry, and eating disorders — areas that I find extremely interesting and intriguing. ÂWhat I'm Passionate About
I’m passionate about helping my teenage patients navigate safely through their adolescence and rise above the challenges they may face. I’m also passionate about empowering them, by providing them with the knowledge they need, to make healthy choices, protect them from preventable diseases and avoid becoming a teen parent. I consider myself a strong advocate for teenagers and work to make sure receive the high quality of health care that they deserve.ÂHow I Try to Make A Difference
For each and every patient, I try to be a good listener, patient, respectful and never judgmental. In turn, I hope they feel safe in opening up to me and sharing their concerns. Only then can I truly help them.Education & Training
